Abstract:
      Three-dimensional size of corrosion pitting of 6051 aluminum was measured by KH-7700 microscope. The cross-section morphology of corrosion pitting was analyzed, and the corrosion pitting can be approximated to a semi-ellipsoid. Fatigue crack growth life was analyzed with AFGROW. The results showed that pitting depth and width both have significant effect on fatigue crack growth life; with the increase of ratio of pitting depth and width, the fatigue crack growth life tended to be stable; and the pitting depth has greater effect on fatigue crack growth life than the width.
