Abstract:
Objective To study mechanical properties of polycarbonate under intermediate and low strain rates at certain temperature. Methods Dynamic tensile experiments of polycarbonate under strain rates ranged from 0.05/s to 60/s were developed with high velocity hydraulic servo-testing machine and non-contact measurement system between 45 and 70 ℃, and true stress-true strain curves under different strain rates and at each temperature were obtained. Results Yield strength and flow stress of polycarbonate increased with the increase of strain rate and decreased with the increase of temperature. Conclusion Polycarbonate has apparent strengthening effect of strain rate and softening effect of temperature within the temperature and strain rate range.
