Abstract: |
The work aims to design a compact filter antenna for modern wireless communication systems. The filter antenna consisted of a microstrip open-loop resonator, a coupling line and a Γ-shaped antenna. The Γ-shaped antenna was excited by coupling line. Meanwhile, the coupling line was used as an admittance converter in filter design. The Γ-shaped antenna not only played the role of radiation, but also was the last resonator of the filter. The advantage of this design was that there was basically no loss between the filter and the antenna. After the simulation debugging, the filter antenna was processed into a physical object for testing. The impedance bandwidth of the proposed filter antenna was 12.7% (2.36~2.68 GHz) when the reflection coefficient S11<-10 dB. The filter antenna had flat passband and the maximum difference inside the passband was 0.84 dB. The out-of-band gain of filter antenna was less than -15 dBi, which indicated that the filter antenna had good out-of-band rejection. With flat antenna gain inside the passband, the designed filter antenna featured by good out-of-band rejection characteristics, filtering and radiation characteristics and very low loss is suitable for the RF front end of the modern wireless communication system. |
