Abstract:
In order to study the corrosion regularity of typical stainless steel in splash zone in island environment of the South China Sea, field corrosion tests were carried out on islands in the South China Sea. The corrosion morphology, corrosion rate and corrosion depth of 304, 316L and 2205 stainless steels in splash zone were compared and analyzed by methods of surface morphology observation, corrosion product analysis and weight loss test. The results show that the corrosion rate of 304 stainless steel in splash zone is the highest, followed by 316L stainless steel, and 2205 stainless steel is the lowest. Pitting corrosion and crevice corrosion are the main corrosion types of 304 stainless steel and 316L stainless steel in splash zone. 2205 stainless steel has good corrosion resistance, but local corrosion is not obvious. The main corrosion products of these three stainless steels are α-FeOOH, γ-FeOOH and γ-Fe2O3. The corrosion products of the three stainless steels are basically the same, but the change trend of corrosion rate of 2205 stainless steel is different from that of the other two stainless steels.
