Abstract:
This paper systematically reviews recent research progress in multifunctional smart responsive coatings that integrate self-reporting and self-healing functions. First, the mechanisms underlying the self-reporting and self-healing function of intelligent coatings are categorized and analyzed, with their technical advantages and limitations compared. Subsequently, advancements in self-reporting and self-healing coatings are elaborated in detail. Multifunctional smart responsive coatings are classified based on types of environmental response stimuli, and their future development directions are prospected. The study highlights that current research trends focus on developing synergistic systems with multiple responses. Nevertheless, technical bottlenecks such as functional integration, environmental adaptability, and cost must be overcome to address the practical anti-corrosion needs of intelligent coatings in marine environments.
