Analysis of Load Reduction Performance of the Honeycomb Paperboard Cushioning Device during the Drop Process of Airdrop Unit

Abstract

To explore the safety of the airdrop unit during the drop process, the work aims to investigate the effect of honeycomb paperboard thickness, thickness-span ratio and porosity on the load reduction characteristics of the airdrop unit during the drop process. Based on the drop hammer test technology, the dynamic stress-strain curve and physical parameters of the honeycomb paperboard were obtained, and the mechanical properties at different strain rates were analyzed. Combined with the experimental data, a finite element model of the honeycomb paperboard was established, and a drop simulation model of the airdrop unit was established. The dynamic failure process of the honeycomb paperboard and the overload acceleration curve of the ammunition during the landing process were obtained. The correctness of the simulation model was verified combined with the test results. The load efficiency was used to evaluate the cushioning performance of different honeycomb paperboard structure parameters under dynamic impact. The overload acceleration curves of the ammunition under different structure parameters of the honeycomb paperboard were compared. The cushioning and load reduction performance of the honeycomb paperboard increased with the increase of thickness and porosity, and increased with the decrease of thickness-span ratio. The cushioning performance of honeycomb paperboard is affected by structural parameters such as thickness, thickness-span ratio and porosity. The optimization of each parameter has synergistic effect, and the action characteristics are nonlinear, so it is necessary to optimize the design by considering the actual working conditions and energy absorption requirements.
