Abstract

With the sluice pier base slab of a river-crossing hydraulic complex as the research object, the work aims to clarify the quantitative effect mechanism of ambient temperature and pouring temperature on the thermal stress of mass concrete. A three-dimensional “base slab-bedrock” model was established based on the sequential coupling finite element method of tran-sient heat conduction and structural thermal stress. Combined with an engineering case, the temporal variation of thermal stress under the coupling effect of temperature parameters was investigated. When the ambient temperature increased, the thermal stress decreased, the occurrence time of the maximum tensile stress was delayed (by 1 day for every 5 ℃ increase), and the reduction rate of the first principal stress increased. When the pouring temperature increased, the thermal stress in-creased, the occurrence time of the maximum tensile stress advanced (by 1 day for every 10 ℃ increase), and the growth rate of the first principal stress increased (when the difference between pouring temperature and ambient temperature exceeded 5 ℃, the growth rate reached 0.032 MPa/℃). Ambient temperature and pouring temperature have opposite effects on the thermal stress of concrete: ambient temperature affects the surface temperature diffusion of concrete, while pouring tem-perature affects the internal heat accumulation of concrete. In engineering practice, it is advisable to pour concrete when the ambient temperature is relatively high or during a temperature rising period, and to control the difference between pouring temperature and ambient temperature within ±5 ℃ to minimize the peak thermal stress.
