Application of PE-based Envelope Film Materials for Equipment Protection in Humid and Hot Environment

Abstract

The work aims to investigate how structural differences in PE-based envelope film materials affect the variation patterns of their barrier properties and provide effective theoretical and data support for selecting appropriate film materials in equipment protection scenarios, so as to improve the environmental worthiness of equipment protection systems and the suitability of material selection.. With polyethylene films, copper-ion modified films, aluminum-plastic composite films, and polyester plastic films as test specimens, the action mechanisms of factors such as multilayer composite structures and metal particle doping on barrier properties were analyzed by evaluating key parameters including tear strength performance, water absorption capacity, water vapor transmission rate (WVTR), and hydrostatic resistance performance. Key property tests were carried out on four types of envelope film materials to obtain specific property parameters of test samples. Notably, the copper-ion modified film demonstrates exceptional solar radiation resistance, superior tear strength, effective water barrier capabilities, and basic hydrostatic pressure resistance. Their unique copper particle distribution structure renders them highly suitable for long-term stable protection of equipment deployed in outdoor, open or semi-enclosed environments, and possesses important engineering application value for improving the environmental worthiness of equipment protection systems and the service life of materials.
